about the club and its History
The Mount View Netball Club was formed in 1990 by Val Rich and Linda Johnson, parents of Mount View Primary School students. At the time they were looking for a netball club in the area and a way to help keep their daughter's friendships intact after Grade 6 after they had moved on to different High Schools and Colleges. In the first year they entered one team of 9 girls and from there the club grew and was well supported by the parents. More teams were entered in the following years as the club cemented itself in the WCNA.
With the growing numbers of players, strength and support, the club gained a Certificate of Incorporation in 1998.
It is today as it was then, run by the parents, with the majority of players coming from Mount View Primary School but this is not exclusive as we welcome all families to our club.
Thanks to the close relationship which has been formed with the school, today we now enjoy the wonderful training facilities of the Mount View indoor court as well as 2 outdoor courts.
Our coaches are dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to the club and the kids. They vary from school teachers, parents and also past and present senior players. The club thanks our dedicated coaches, as a club we support the development of our coaches so our children benefit from their knowledge.
We are also active in encouraging junior players to pursue umpiring accreditation which not only supports the WCNA, but develops the girls' knowledge and respect for the game as well as their own self confidence.
The one anthem that rings true over the years and still stands today is that this is a club that promotes fun and involvement ahead of success. History shows that when children compete in a fun and happy environment, that breeds success.
